I feel like I really need to sketch and publicly note down my headcanons more often.

These are head shots of what I currently have in mind for manga Hamel.

Hamel's first hats were hand woven by Pandora with long grass or straw.

After moving to Anthem is when Hamel receives his first felt hat. Currently this is rather consistent with the manga's design as I don't see why a simple conical felt hat would be too much trouble to acquire. The canon version is likely derived by the 19th century Italian styled hat Remi wears in Nobody's Boy. I might make it rounder in design in the future. I have two head canons to how it was acquired, first it was a gift from Raiel and his family, second, which I will likely favor, it was bought by Pandora after she saved up some income from being able to actually sell goods in Anthem thanks to Raiel's family supporting her.

As a teen, Hamel, Hamel's buys a fancier hat, mostly likely pre-worn. I take a lot of inspiration from 17th century fashion in my headcanon design for Hamel. I want one side pinned up to give Oboe more room to perch on Hamel's shoulder but I might reject it for a hat that has a natural curl. I'm also trying to figure out if I want his hat pin to be be something he was given as a boy by Raiel's family or merely a shinny bauble that Hamel acquired to gussy up his outfit.
